Showa, Dainichi (Super Monster Line)

I have kept quiet with these. I purchased a box of selected Super Monster and Mona Lisa Showa back in November. To put it lightly they cost an absolute fortune and they were very small when they landed. In all honesty this is the only way of purchasing Koi from such lines without paying astronomical fees in the auctions. That said, when you buy 50/60 pcs they seriously add up. Anyway they were 12-14cm on average and the patterns were quite cluttered so I was concerned they wouldn't come across too well on a picture. Often a bit of size and body volume just helps frame the patterns and it all makes a bit more sense than on a far smaller Koi. So the Super Monster line (as the name suggests) is famed for generating big, aggressive body styles that display plenty of body volume. For this reason they are in high demand and Dainichi is the master at not flooding the market, which maintains his price point. This line is also renowned for big, bold Sumi patterns that have a very lustrous appearance.

If you like heavy/traditional Showa patterns then you will enjoy watching this moving forward. You can see the strength of the Sumi style even at a young age which is very promising moving forward. More size and body volume will allow more Shiroji to be present and this will really help with the harmony of the Koi. You can all but put your house on the sumi thickening and getting stronger, when you combine this with size this will play out nicely and the pattern will be framed in a way that make far more sense on a bigger Koi than it perhaps looks now. I very much doubt Showa from this line will be available in the UK, so I am proud to be able to offer these out to you guys. There wont be many in the UK that can say they have one of these Tosai swimming around in their pond.
