Tancho Kohaku from Yagenji

Yagenji Koi farm is a hugely respected farm in Niigata. This multi generational farm has been in operation for over 80 years and is famed for its variety and strong body types with potential to gain size. The farm was hit very badly in the Chetsu earthquake but has come back bigger and stronger which is a testament to the brothers (Daisuke and Toshinori). This is a super Tancho Kohaku, very clean and a very well formed and placed Tancho spot. There is no hiding with this variety given the simplicity of the pattern so we look for sharp, defined Beni on the spot that is well positioned and also snowy white shiroji to generate that contrast in colour. A strong frame will serve this Koi well moving forward.
